Meggitt introduces damped accelerometers providing superior ruggedness for automotive crash and crush testing

IRVINE, Calif., USA – Oct 5, 2017 – Meggitt Sensing Systems, a Meggitt division and leader in sensing and monitoring systems for extreme environments, has launched the Endevco models 701A/701F piezoresistive accelerometers for vehicle crash and crush testing.

These lightweight MEMS (Micro Electronic Mechanical Systems) based sensors include mechanical stops and gas damping for the ruggedness required in vehicle impact applications. With a flat frequency response and consistent performance over temperature these accelerometers are superior when compared to oil damped sensors.

Key features include:

  • Flat frequency response: +/-5% to 4,000Hz
  • 1,000g range with shock survivability to 10,000g
  • Adhesive (701A) or screw (701F) mounting
  • Weigh less than 2 grams
  • Standard 2, 5 and 10V calibration traceable to NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology)

The Endevco 701A/701F incorporate the latest MEMS technology to ensure the repeatability and reliability required by all crash test facilities. Total quality control is implemented from the in-house fabrication facility to final test with certified calibration systems.
