Question

What is the correct input jumper configuration for my <a ?o="6634b&q=6634c''">6634C vibration amplifier?

Answer

The 6634C provides signal amplification and universal power for accelerometers. It offers selectable full scale, programmable 6-pole filters, external filtering for acceleration or broadband signals, and integration to velocity and displacement. With such a complex array of programming options, reliable sensor readings depend on the right jumper configuration. The following six diagrams will help you do exactly that.

Motherboard jumper locations
Figure 1 shows the jumper locations W1 through W9, along with other input connectors and options.

The instruction manual (IM6634) covers the configuration of ""other jumpers"" in detail, but here are some helpful notes to get you started.

  • W2, W3 and W4 are used to allow for external filtering for acceleration, velocity or broad band signals.

  • W5 is used to configure the AC Full Scale output voltage range. The default settings of 10V can be switched to 5V or 1V.

  • W7 is used to configure the DC Full Scale output voltage range. The default settings of 10V can be switched to 5V or 1V.

  • W6 is restricted to firmware development and not intended for use by the customer.

Accelerometer, signal input and power
Figure 2 shows how to connect and power IEPE sensors or a single-ended remote charge convertor.

Differential velocity, signal input
When connecting a differential velocity coil, configure the input and jumpers as shown in Figure 3.

Single-ended velocity, signal input
The configuration in Figure 4 is used for a single-ended velocity signal with the B connector wiring side grounded.

Differential remote charge converter, signal input and power
Configure the jumpers as shown in Figure 5 to apply the necessary DC voltage when a differential remote charge converter provides the acceleration signal input.

Differential remote charge converter, signal input only
When a differential remote charge converter is powered by an alternate DC power source, the acceleration signal input jumpers should be configured as in Figure 6.
